Healing Paws Animal Therapy

Super Dog Max - Professional Therapy Dog & Actor – Non Profit

Please Read

Max & Ruby are both Certified Therapy Dogs and work 40+ hours volunteering their services to others for FREE. Ruby has been a certified therapy animal since 2016 and loves helping others.

MAX is a “Licensed & Certified SERVICE ANIMAL” and has been since 2010. He is NOT a emotional support animal (ESA) which is often confused with a service animal. A service animal is a highly trained animal and goes through thousands of hours of training and cost. He provides a service to a disabled person that is needed.

Max was born in 2009 & Ruby was born in 2015. Both are 100% purebred red standard poodles. They are called canine actors rather than therapy animals because the last thing the trainer wants is the patient/child that they are visiting to think that they are there in a professional capacity to “work” on them. We are there to entertain them, to make them feel better, to make them forget what is going on health wise, to add a ray sunshine and hope to their lives. Max & Ruby are there to help them to walk, move, get out of bed, talk, laugh, read and to do whatever it takes to help them get better and have a more productive life.

ALL work we do which amounts to around 40 + hours per week is FREE. The trainer/owner pays for everything out of his pocket. He does not ask nor does he receive ANY money or help from anyone or ANY company or organization. They are volunteers and enjoy helping others and bringing happiness to people from their pictures/video and volunteer work they do visiting patients. Every publication, news clip, movie, TV commercial you have seen Max in that company solicited them to be in their publication and it was an HONOR to have been asked to be published in them. We were never compensated nor did we ask or want to be. We enjoyed helping out and getting Max out there for the world to see & enjoy. If we can add a smile/laugh to anyone’s day anywhere in the world and make them feel better about life then we are more than willing to do whatever it takes.

The owner/trainer has been training animals for over 20 years. He does volunteer work because it brings him happiness to make others happier in their own lives. It brings him great joy to know that he is not only helping patients he visits but people all over the world that need to be lifted up and if it takes something as simple as a photo or video to bring a ray of hope into their lives and cheers them/you up then he is more than happy to do it. These pictures and videos are actually is a form of therapy and all you have to do is read the hundreds of comments on Max’s Facebook page of the patients who have been helped by viewing Max’s pictures or the loved ones that lost a child/loved one or anyone that is feeling down/alone and found Max’s page and smiled. Have doubts? Please do not believe us, I encourage you to Google: how therapy animals help others or please talk to a licensed psychologist/doctor. Even something as simple as a video or picture can cheer someone up anywhere in the world 🙂

All photos take hours of preparation to make the props, come up with an idea, find a location, buy the equipment needed, secure permissions to take photos in the area the pic/video is going to be filmed it and sometimes hundreds of dollars that the owner/trainer pays out of his pocket. It takes Max and Ruby ONLY 2-4 minutes to either sit down and pose or do whatever is needed of them to make the picture or video complete. At no time are either dog forced to do anything. The owner/trainer practice what is known as voluntary training i.e. “positive reinforcement” what this means is if either Max and Ruby don’t want to do a trick, he does not make them do it. It is no big deal to him, he wants his babies happy. 98% of the time they love taking pictures/videos and performing for children and the elderly. But even a dog has their moments and when they arise he just gives them more love and lets them do whatever they want. They are never forced to do anything. Hence the reason we do volunteer work. If Max or Ruby don’t want to be somewhere, work for someone, or perform on cue then it’s not big deal to him, his babies are number one in his life.

** PLEASE DO NOT TRY/ATTEMPT ANY OF THE TRICKS YOU SEE MAX OR RUBY PERFORMING. BOTH DOGS HAVE BEEN TRAINED TO DO THIS SINCE A YOUNG AGE BY A SKILLED TRAINER WITH OVER 20 YEARS EXPERIENCE. HARM/INJURY CAN COME TO YOUR ANIMALS IF YOU ATTEMPT ANY TRICKS. PLEASE CONSULT YOUR VETERINARIAN OR A LICENSED ZOOLOGIST OR REPUTABLE ANIMAL TRAINER WHO HAS BEEN TRAINING ANIMALS FOR A MINIMUM OF 20 YEARS.

If you are local and know of a facility or someone that needs the help of animal therapy please do not hesitate to send the owner/trainer a private message on our personal FB page at: SuperDog Max All services provided are FREE. We do NOT do parties or functions that are profit oriented. If you want to make a donation then please help out your local Humane Society, SPCA or adopt a pet that needs a loving home.

We ask for only one thing of everyone: “Smile/Laugh, be Happy and add some cheer to someone else’s life by passing on our videos/pictures!” Thank you
